Bong Go Triumphs in Senate Race, Commits to Expanding Healthcare and Job Opportunities

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go emerged as the frontrunner in the 2025 senatorial elections, topping the race as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) wrapped up its national canvass. The final tally showed Go securing 27,121,073 votes, solidifying his position for a second term in the Senate.

Comelec officials hailed the 2025 canvassing as the fastest in Philippine election history. Despite the announcement, the results remain subject to a final audit before the official proclamation.

Former Senator Bam Aquino secured second place with 20,971,899 votes, followed by reelectionist Senator Ronald dela Rosa in third with 20,773,946 votes. Broadcaster-turned-public servant Erwin Tulfo came in fourth with 17,118,881 votes, while ex-Senator Kiko Pangilinan ranked fifth with 15,343,229 votes. Sagip Partylist Rep. Rodante Marcoleta rounded out the top six with 15,250,723 votes.

A total of 66 candidates vied for the 12 Senate seats in this year’s midterm elections.

Bong Go’s Second Term: Healthcare, Jobs, And Public Service

Senator Go vowed to focus on his key advocacies. “Let’s start working,” Go said, emphasizing that his top priority remains healthcare access for Filipinos.

In his interview, Go outlined his plans to push reforms in the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and continue expanding public health services. “I will focus on Philhealth for the Filipinos. Philhealth is for health. Not business. Its funds should be spent for the people, let’s bring the money back to people. Poor citizens should have something to fall back on in times of sickness.” Go stated.

The Malasakit Centers, which Go authored through Republic Act No. 11463, have helped over 17 million Filipinos minimize hospital expenses. His efforts also include the Regional Specialty Centers Act, ensuring specialized medical care is accessible nationwide.

Expanding Access To Education, Jobs, And Food Security

Beyond healthcare, Go promised to push for education reforms. He intends to expand the Free Tertiary Education Law and strengthen scholarship programmes, particularly for impoverished students.

Job creation and food security are also on his agenda. “No Filipino should go hungry. Job creation and ensuring food on every table are essential,” Go emphasized.

As the chair of the Senate Committee on Sports, he underlined his dedication to young people’s growth. He wants to boost sports programmes as part of health, discipline, and anti-drug campaigns.

Senator Go underlined his vision of government anchored in compassion and diligence. He underlined once more the importance of quick, politically free distribution of government relief. Public money should directly help the people. One should not help selectively or politicise things.
