Discovering Aurora: Why This Hidden Gem Is Booming with Tourists
If you’re searching for a place where verdant mountains touch white sandy beaches and rich culture coexists with unspoiled nature, it’s time to add Aurora to your bucket list. With millions of travelers visiting annually, Aurora tourism is growing, and there’s a good reason. This coastal province in Central Luzon embraces eco-tourism while preserving its natural charm, making it a must-visit spot for local and international travelers.
If you want to chase waterfalls, catch waves, or crave a peaceful escape, there’s something for you here. Holy Week is one of the busiest times of the year, and here’s what you need to know.
Aurora: Holy Week Top Destination in 2025

Aurora isn’t just about scenic views; it’s about experiences. According to the Provincial Tourism Office (PTO), from April 12 to 18 this year, over 433,000 tourists flocked to this province during Holy Week. That number includes 134,164 overnight guests and nearly 300,000 same-day visitors. Unsurprisingly, its natural beauty and friendly locals drive its tourism.
Dipaculao is the top draw this year. It welcomed over 64,000 overnight guests and nearly 94,000 day-trippers. The beaches there are absolutely stunning. Dinadiawan Beach was my personal favorite. It has white sand, crystal-clear water, and barely a crowd in sight. The sunsets are the kind that make you pause and breathe.
Other hotspots like Dingalan, Dilasag, and Casiguran were buzzing, too, but they still felt peaceful compared to other tourist-heavy provinces. Of course, Baler, known for its surf spots and laid-back vibe, added over 21,000 tourists to the count that week alone.
A Surge of Tourists in 2024
By the end of 2024, Aurora province had welcomed 3.28 million tourists. That’s a considerable jump, and Dipaculao led again with over 1.2 million visitors. What’s drawing people in? Beyond the beaches, this place has an authentic, untouched vibe.
Spots like Dingalan Landmark, Baul Falls, Amper Beach, and, of course, the Baler Signage became Instagram favorites. You can tell the local government has put real effort into promoting tourism here without selling out the province’s soul.
It’s no wonder why the province earned seven awards at the 2024 Department of Tourism Central Luzon’s Tourism Excellence Awards. It won big for its warm hospitality, marketing efforts, and even culinary tourism (yes, the food is also fantastic!).
New Eco-Tourism Project Champions Sustainable Travel
One of the newest spots is the Villa Aurora Eco-Tourism Project in Maria Aurora. This P69.3-million government project shows how serious the province is about sustainable travel.
Located in Barangay Villa, the site features 11 cozy eco-friendly villas, a function hall, tribal and chapel halls, and even a tent space for nature lovers. If you’re into rustic charm with creature comforts, you’ll love it here. There’s also a 4×4 off-road trail, access to Ubot Falls, and scenic bridges and trails perfect for nature walks.
This development benefits tourists and the local economy. It also includes more jobs, better infrastructure, and eco-friendly systems like waste recovery bins, water tanks, and renewable energy facilities.
You can tell the province cares about how it grows. During peak seasons like Holy Week, tourist assistance desks are everywhere, offering help, safety tips, and even coordinating with rescue teams.
They’re serious about environmental rules, too. And you know what? Most people followed them. There’s a shared respect for the land and each other.
Aurora isn’t just catching up; it’s setting the pace. If you love destinations that still feel real, where locals smile and wave as you pass by, and nature reigns supreme, then it’s time to go. The tourism boom isn’t just about numbers; it’s about experiences—surfing, hiking to waterfalls, camping under the stars, or enjoying a freshly grilled fish by the beach.
And the best part? It’s still not overcrowded. So go before the rest of the world discovers this treasure.
