(G)I-DLE Rebrands as i-dle Ahead of Their Much-awaited May Comeback
One of the 4th Gen leaders (G)I-DLE has officially rebranded to i-dle. This marks the group’s bold step as they celebrate their seventh debut anniversary. The group revealed the name change across their official social media platforms, sending NEVERLANDs into a frenzy of excitement and speculation.
This rebranding aligns with their upcoming May comeback. It is their first full-group activity since renewing their contracts with Cube Entertainment in December 2024.
By dropping the “G,” which initially stood for “Girl,” the group is embracing a broader identity. Cube Entertainment explained that the change represents i-dle’s desire to move beyond gendered definitions and explore a more limitless artistic direction. The shift reflects their growing ambition to transcend conventional labels in concept and music.
Accompanying the new name, i-dle unveiled a minimalist logo that spells out “i-d-l-e” in lowercase letters arranged in a circular motif. The group’s new emblem features a star created from five lowercase “i” letters, representing both their unity and individual strengths. This fresh visual identity communicates their creative potential and evolving image.
Since their debut on May 2, 2018, i-dle has built an impressive track record with hits like “Latata,” “Oh My God,” “DUMDi DUMDi,” and “Queencard.” In 2024, they released their second studio album featuring the chart-topping “Super Lady” and the viral fan-favorite “Wife.” After renewing their contracts, the members focused on solo endeavors, including Minnie’s solo album HER in January 2025 and Yuqi’s digital single “Radio (Dum-Dum)” in March.
The group’s comeback plans include a special mini-album release on May 2 at 6 PM KST, followed by their 8th mini-album on May 19. A teaser clip released on May 2 shows the group in a cinematic black-and-white sequence. This evokes a mysterious ritual, hinting at a bold, iconoclastic concept for their new music.
What makes this comeback special for you, NEVERLANDS?
