CIDG captures 2 Singaporeans, Filipino in major gun bust
The authorities detained two Singaporean nationals and their Filipino co-conspirator for loose firearms and illegal possession in Valenzuela City, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) confirmed on Friday.
The CIDG reported the suspects were caught by the CIDG’s Detection and Special Operations Unit in a buy-bust operation at Barangay Gen. T. De Leon, Valenzuela City, on Thursday.

The operation also yielded the confiscation of 10 loose weapons and an airsoft replica. Some of the weapons that were confiscated include an M-15 rifle, a Garand M2 carbine, an MK-9 submachine gun, an MKGs 9mm rifle, four 9mm caliber pistols, a .45 caliber pistol, and a .22 caliber pistol. There was also a good number of magazines and live cartridges confiscated.
The CIDG validated reports indicated that the three were operating gun-running activities in Metro Manila and its surrounding provinces.
The suspects were also formally charged prior to the National Prosecution Service for violating Republic Act 10591, or commonly known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
In order to counter the increasing menace of illegal guns, the CIDG accelerated its campaign nationwide under Oplan Paglalansag Omega against loose firearms and private armed groups.
