Met Gala 2025: ‘Tailored for You’ Theme Unleashes Bold, Show-Stopping Fashion on the Red Carpet

The Met Gala 2025, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, was one to remember. In spite of the rain-soaked night, the blue carpet was buzzing with creativity and sophistication. This year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” invited guests to reimagine classic menswear inspired by the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which honored Black dandyism and its rich cultural heritage.

Many embraced the zoot suit, a wide-shouldered, high-waisted suit popularized by African American men in the 1940s. Fashion designer Dapper Dan highlighted that “real dandyism” began with zoot suits, jazz, and the Harlem Renaissance movement.

Rihanna: Wearing a custom Marc Jacobs ensemble, Rihanna captivated attendees with her commanding presence.

Notable Absences at Met Gala 2025

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce: The couple opted out despite receiving invitations due to conflicting schedules. They have been enjoying private downtime following the conclusion of Kelce’s NFL season and Swift’s Eras Tour.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds: The pair skipped the event for the third year running. Theirs was a decision made months ago, and not related to their current court battle with actor Justin Baldoni.
Beyoncé: The pop singer, who was touring on the Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit, did not appear at the gala.
