IU Celebrates Children’s Day 2025 with Generous ₩150 Million Donation

The beloved K-pop star and actress IU marks Children’s Day with a heartwarming donation of ₩150 million (approximately USD 110,000). According to her agency, EDAM Entertainment, the donation was made under the name “IUaena.” The name was a combination of IU and her fan club, Uaena. This thoughtful gesture reflects her commitment to supporting youth preparing for independence and children with disabilities.

The donation was divided between two key organizations. Eden I Ville received ₩62 million to help build safe living spaces for self-supporting teens and provide holiday gifts and activities. Meanwhile, a combined ₩90 million was donated to Hansarang Village and Hansarang Infant Care Center for Children with Disabilities. The funds will replace old boilers, cover medical and rehabilitation costs, and provide Children’s Day gifts.

IU’s philanthropy is nothing new. Since her debut in 2008, she has consistently given back to society. She often makes donations on special occasions like her birthday, debut anniversary, and holidays, always under the name IUaena. In 2019, Forbes Asia recognized her as the youngest person in their Heroes of Philanthropy list. Earlier this year, in March 2025, she donated ₩200 million to support wildfire recovery in Gyeongsang Province and improve working conditions for firefighters.

Beyond her charitable efforts, IU remains active in entertainment. Her dual roles in the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines recently impressed audiences. She played both Ae-sun and her daughter, Geum-myeong. She’s also preparing for her next project, The Queen of Tears in the 21st Century. This has already generated buzz among fans and critics alike.
