Fuel prices rise again starting April 29: Gasoline surge up by ₱1.35, Diesel by ₱0.80
Motorists should brace for another budget hit as oil companies announced new fuel prices increases starting Tuesday, April 29. All vehicle owners and consumers nationwide will be affected by rising fuel prices for gasoline, diesel, and kerosene. All gas stations in the Philippines starting as early as 6 a.m. on Tuesday will effectively implement the increase. The price surge is attributed to rising international oil costs, driven by new U.S. sanctions on Iran and declining U.S. crude inventories. This price increase will result in higher pump costs, further straining motorists’ budgets.
Several major oil players, including Caltex, Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, PTT Philippines, Seaoil, and Shell, have confirmed that the price of gasoline will jump by ₱1.35 per liter. Diesel prices will also rise by ₱0.80 per liter. For kerosene users, Caltex, Seaoil, and Shell will add ₱0.80 per liter. Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, and PTT, which do not sell kerosene, will apply only the gasoline and diesel adjustments.
This marks the second consecutive week of fuel prices hikes, making it even more challenging for everyday motorists. Cleanfuel said their adjustments would take effect later at 4:01 p.m., while most others will adjust prices by 6 a.m. Other fuel companies are expected to announce similar price increases in the coming days.
According to the Department of Energy’s Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB), two main reasons are driving this week’s increase in pump fuel prices. First, fresh US sanctions targeting Iran’s oil shipping network have tightened the global oil supply. Second, US oil inventories dropped more sharply than expected, resulting in further upward pressure on crude oil prices.
Since the start of 2025, gasoline prices have already climbed by a net ₱2.30 per liter, while diesel rose by ₱2.85 per liter. Kerosene, on the other hand, has seen a slight net decrease of ₱1.80 per liter despite the recent hikes.
DOE staff will closely monitor international oil activity and remind the public to be aware of potential fluctuations at the pump over the next few weeks. The agency is also urging consumers to save on fuel where possible to minimize the effects of these continuing adjustments.
The department warned that motorists intending to fill up later in the month should do so early next week to avoid the steeper rate.
