Tesla launches operations in Saudi Arabia market with first Riyadh showroom and service center

Tesla officially launched its operations in Saudi Arabia on April 10, 2025, with the opening of its first showroom and service center in Riyadh. This marks a significant step in the electric vehicle (EV) maker’s global expansion.

The new facility offers Tesla’s Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck. Additionally, the company plans to open pop-up stores in Jeddah and Dammam to broaden its presence in the kingdom,

The launch event in Riyadh attracted a large and diverse crowd, including car enthusiasts and local supporters. Attendees expressed excitement about Tesla’s entry into the Saudi market, viewing it as a positive step towards the country’s Vision 2030 goals.

Despite past tensions between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the Saudi government stemming from a failed 2018 privatization deal, the launch proceeded without incident. While Musk did not attend the event, his popularity remains strong in the kingdom, where many view him as a visionary.

Tesla’s entry into Saudi Arabia comes as the country aims to expand its EV sector, with plans to make 30% of Riyadh’s vehicles electric by 2030. However, challenges such as extreme heat and limited EV charging infrastructure persist. The Saudi government has announced plans to expand charging networks to meet its sustainability goals.

Tesla joins other EV manufacturers in the Saudi market, including Lucid Motors, which is backed by the country’s sovereign wealth fund and has announced plans to build its first international manufacturing plant in Jeddah.

With this launch, Tesla aims to capitalize on Saudi Arabia’s growing interest in electric vehicles and contribute to the country’s efforts to diversify its economy and reduce its dependence on oil.
